hello watch lovers it's time again to solve the internet's watch buying dilemmas and answer some of the burning questions that you guys have about which watch you should get next I'm going to make some tough calls on some big luxury watch purchases great big decisions like Rolex or Omega Cuda or lene and plenty other watch related would you rathers so let's begin with a post from Reddit which Spa Time SpongeBob watch will you get and why now this is uh this is probably one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make and I was once stood on the edge of a cliff next to James Gordon so yeah we got four amazing watches here from Spa who make Hardy and stylish watches for diving and other underwater activities and they've teamed up with SpongeBob SquarePants to commemorate the show's iconic 25th anniversary so you got four automatic watches in uh the very vibrant designs and colors inspired by our friends from bikini bottom uh so you got SpongeBob of course Patrick Squidward Mr Krabs they're in the style of the H model from Spa as a very seaworthy 300 met depth rated watch it's a three-hander in steel with an automatic movement around $500 each and limited to just 300 pieces each as well and around the bezel you'll find the deeply profound words spoken by SpongeBob Bob you never really know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory I'm not crying you are so who would you rather out of SpongeBob and his friends still just talking about watches here remember I think it's got to be SpongeBob himself for me uh I especially like how the keepers on the rubber strap of the SpongeBob version are the same colors as his famous Square Pants um it making the strap almost look itself like a low reses version of SpongeBob himself that's the obvious choice um but I think the choice that would make the most sense is to uh take the the 2,000 OD pounds that you were going to spend on a lene or a tag and uh get these four Spa SpongeBobs instead now here's a post Tuda versus lene which is the better watch I've been eyeing up a Lin GMT and a Tuda black Bay 58 GMT for some time now which is the better GMT H that's a toughy so let's just go through it on paper so both 39 mm in diameter both flyer style gmts uh the Tor gets a manufacturer caliber while the line has the ETA based l84 4.4 caliber the longine comes with a rich racing green bezel which is very nice while the Tuda black Bay 58 gets the classic Coke bezel uh with a bit of guilting around the hands and markers obviously the five-star review from the Zulu Times newspaper on the dial of the lachry counts for a lot uh but for me really it's going to boil down to a couple of numbers the first number denoting the thickness so the line is a bit thicker 13.5 mm while the chuda is only 12.8 mm so that's 7 mm thinner uh that could be a clincher it's very important and the other number of course is the price so the Cuda is £ 3,960 while the line is £3,000 also I don't know where you stand on faux rivets some people don't mind them I do real rivets or GTFO that's what I say so for me it's got to be the longing get the line pocket the 960 saving and and if you still feel like you're missing out on that Cuda GMT cess uh then you could just get the Timex waterb GMT for £185 with a Coke bezel styly uh and there you go job done so would you rather have six omegas or one Rolex six watches or one of the equivalent total value so here we have six omegas a 1944 ck2 4152 a black dial sea Master a DeVille a midsize blue sea Master a moon Swatch um yeah and the 3861 speed master professional with the hesite crystal or would you trade those all in for a green Rolex Sub um so as single Watch collections go that's pretty nice nice um Omega is a great brand to have a collection of and these are all nicely diverse time pieces that would suit a number of different occasions and styles uh the moon Swatch that isn't even anything is it because really what you've got here is just five amas and a plastic Swatch to be fair but I'll allow it the devil is very nice and dressy with a sort of textural dial there the speed master is a no-brainer I mean I take that over a Rolex Sub any day of the week anyway probably and then that vintage Omega is lovely as well 1944 yeah sweet deal and you can make the argument that the Omega SE master of which you have two already does kind of the same job as the Rolex Submariner anyway uh it's an iconic time piece it's a recognizable dive watch with a 300 met depth rating and a satisfying turny bezel just like the Rolex Submariner uh but at the end of the day it's where you find the most enjoyment if you've always desired a Rolex then go for the Rolex if you've enjoyed these omegas and now you want to move on and enjoy a Rolex instead then that's fine if you personally see it as an upgrade then that's all that matters you know they're your belongings after all you can do with them as you wish but I would consider this suggestion from the comments and sell them all and buy 40 Moon swatches I think that is um a sensible suggestion and I can't see any downside heading over now to watch crunch uh the friendly watch forum for watch nerds like you and I where I like to lurk and read all your watch dilemmas so here's one would you rather get four watches a doxa a forx a Christopher Ward and a Nevada grin or one watch of equivalent value like a Tudor a grand Seiko or an Omega right blind me um okay so well let's break it down so the four watches on the table that we could get the uh doxa sub 200t um so this is the uh new color for 2024 it's a CA emerald green uh Sunray D with Golden Hands comes in a comfortable 39 mm case very nice and it's $1,490 there's the Nevada grin this is the f77 stainless steel with a meteorite dial limited edition meteorite dial with the unique patterns that only meteorite can give um comes in an i ionic 70 style stainless steel case I suppose that might catch on and that's $1,390 you got the Christopher Ward C63 seander GMT 36 ah this is a beautiful Explorer type watch with a GMT function very well crafted get great build quality and amazingly high levels of finish for the £160 asking price and then the forx essence 39 with its mother of Sky dial so that's a dial which which is a Pearl Oyster dial with a nice thin sky blue lacquer across the dial and gives it a beautiful lustrous finish lovely stuff for £580 so cumulatively that's around £55,000 so that will get you practically any Tudor all the black Bays all the black Bays 54 58 GMT your fxds your dop FS you name it any Tuda you want it would also get you any number of grand SE gmts uh you could get a grand Seiko Spring Drive skyflake which yeah that would be worth considering for show um or you could get an Omega SE Master divver 300 or an aquaa on a leather strap so though I mean that's a lot to think about um I guess what it boils down to though really is do you want a nice diverse collection of some smaller Brands some indie level micr Brandy type watches or do you just want one watch from one of the big boys I suppose it comes down to how often you switch up the watch on your wrist how often do you change the watch that you wear are you going to get bored with just one watch will that be enough or will you be back here in a few months time on the hunt for another watch saying what shall I get now um get a grand SEO with the Spring Drive and then the mesmerizing sweep of the second's hand will distract you from wanting to buy more watches for a bit anyway moving on $1,000 to spend what to upgrade to so I currently own a Seiko SB 033 with $1,000 to spend what would you upgrade to used pieces are fine and prefer to maximize budget good on you um so the Sab 033 uh something of a fan favorite of seikos um discontinued now so might be worth keeping but actually if you look at uh market value prices of that um because it's discontinuation and popularity you probably get about halfway there to your 1,000 uh pound spend limit so that might be worth considering but if you are looking to upgrade maybe think about something Swiss you've got some options uh couple of Hamilton spring to mind you got the Hamilton khy field mechanical in 38 millimeter that's about £550 or the Hamilton khy field murf uh in 38 mm that's about 800B very nice watch helped Matthew mccon and a bookcase uh do science to save the world one time I think and if you're cool with pre-owned as well you could start getting into some tag hoers you can pick up some of the older model Aqua Racers from tag hoyya for under ,000 38 mm in steel with that distinctive bezel it's a fun sporty watch the line Hydro Conquest has a nice big bold diver in 44 mm big rotating bezel and big numerals and big blue dial uh very cool for under £1,000 and in fact if you were to sell the Seiko and add the £500 that you would potentially get for that to the £1,000 you already have to spend then you could start to look at a nomos glute club or an Oris divers watch um both of those would be freaking sweet I tell you so yeah there's uh plenty of options for you to consider there dilemma what would you rather keep Vashon Constantine overseas or the protect Philip 5167 aqual right I'm just going to I'm just going to go into the comments and uh let them decide keep the VC man understated heat I'd personally stay with the vacheron one more vote for VC from me I would keep the VC hey BDS my preference is the VC yeah I'd have to agree I'd stick with the VC uh so there you go um some Sage watch wisdom and Street knowledge for you there I guess um I hope it helped someone somewhere to buy a watch and be happy and if you're looking for your next luxury watch then why not head over to watchfinder tocom where
