hello watch lovers now it's been another great year for watches with tons of amazing models making our wrists go crazy from stylish seyos for everyday to record-breaking mechanical masterpieces there was something for everyone so join me as I go through some of my top picks of the very best watches from this year let's get into it first we have a bevy of black Bays from Tuda new models that feature a monochromatic look with Inky black dials and applied rodium plated hour markers and hands they come in 41 mm cases in stainless steel with a 60-minute unidirectional black bezel and they join the third evolution of the black Bay along with the burgundy bezel one and they're all powered by the manufactur caliber Master chronometer movement certified by metas so to be granted metas Master chronometer certification a watch must meet the incredibly High stand standards of functionality including Precision resistance to magnetic fields waterproofness and power reserve and also must conform with the criteria of Swiss Made In addition to being certified by the official Swiss chronometer testing Institute cque so pat on the back for chuda and also granted meta certified was the New Black Bay GMT with the coke flavored red and black bezel now these watches cost around £4,000 at retail but some of them are already beginning to crop up pre-owned next next we have the return of a bit of an underrated gem from Omega known as the first Omega in space this is a reproduction of a second generation speed master the ck2998 first released in 1959 the watch was famously owned by astronaut Walter Shira who took it with him on the sigma7 mission in 1962 making it the very first Omega in space this reproduction very closely follows the style of Wally Shear's 1959 Speedy with the slim Alpha hands the dark bezel ring in Black aluminium and a symmetrical 39.7 mm case in polished and brushed stainless steel there's other vintage touches like the doed hessite like Hessel likee if you will sapphire crystal and it features the vintage Omega logo on the gray blue color dial which matches the Hue of the original 60s models the biggest update though comes in the form of the coaxial Master chronometer caliber 3861 a meta certified movement and the latest evolution of omega's Exquisite caliber 321 that powered the original models and perhaps unfortunately in keeping with the original aesthetic the movement is hidden by a steel caseback featuring a seahorse medallion with everyone's favorite hippo campus Campo I don't know his name anyway this watch costs £ 7,400 it isn't limited but it is scarce so you'll have to join a waight list to get your hands on one ARA and Zona released a string of masterpieces this year but but this datagraph Perpetual toron honey gold Lumen is for me the best of an amazing Bunch it combines the complications of a flyback chronograph with a precisely jumping minute counter a perpetual calendar with oversized date and a toron with a stop seconds mechanism then wraps it all up in Langer's exclusive honey gold case an 18 karat alloy harder than your everyday run-of-the-mill gold alloy and despite the abundance of displays the dial is well organized and C nearly readable it features Langer's Lumen treatment that's a semi-transparent dial with luminous coating on the displays and functions to make them glow inside you get the manufactur caliber l95 2.4 which consists of 684 parts and is assembled twice for maximum Assurance of quality and precision the movement is also finished to the ridiculously high standards associated with Langer's watch making and this watch is just generally a Marvel of engineering and craftsmanship with a distinctive look that is unmistakably Langer so there you go meanwhile IWC has been busy making some crazy watches this year like the serom with its glowing ceramic case but the craziest of them all has to be this the portuguesa Eternal calendar this is a watch that pushes the boundaries of mechanical accuracy so let's Briefly summarize some of the ingenious engineering that has gone into this watch now your bog standard perpetual calendar is only programmed for a 4year cycle and by design it will recognize the year 2100 as a leap year and thus need a correction but the Eternal calendar features a secular perpetual calendar movement that can calculate the leap year correctly to the year 3999 leap year rules are a bit fiddly and the year 4,000 has not been officially decided if it's a leap year or not yet so stay tuned for that it also features a moonphase display accurate for the next 45 million years now I'm still waiting for IWC to post a time-lapse video proving that by the way but anyway in addition to being remarkably clever on the inside the watch is also beautifully refined on the outside in a 44.4 MM diameter Platinum case with a dial that features layers of glass with the main dial being glass as well as glass sub dials and double box glass sapphire crystals front and back it's a truly incredible time piece but most amazing of all is it's the only watch with its own themed tun composed by H Zimmer as far as I know next we have the Jer Lut duome display in all its Glory there are two variations of the watch one in a platinum case and a copper colored dial and one with a pink gold case and a silver dial both with a diameter of 42.5 mm this is needs to be pulled out and operated using a dedicated tool while the movement is essentially the inside of the case with the case back serving as the movement main plate in addition to the toon at the 10:00 position on the dial which features a second indicator engraved on the toon ring there's also a unique skeletonized barrel and the time can be read from the dial in the upper right oh and it's water resistant to a depth of 20 M that's about the same as a Casio f91w and it's 2 mm thick with a flying toron just to reiterate this watch is a staggering feat of engineering that just beggar belief price upon request now if Ultra thinness isn't your style then maybe you might like the Berkeley Grand complication from vason constant time it's anything but thin this is a pocket watch the size of like a medium coconut here we have the world's most complicated watch comprising of 63 horological complications and 2,877 components it surpasses the prior record of complications in a watch also held by vaton now I won't list all 63 complications but I'll tell you it's got two Perpetual calendars going on in there Gregorian and Chinese and a triple axis toron and it's the result of 11 years of development including one year spent entirely to assembling the thing it's an absolute Tor to force of watchmaking and there's nothing else like it and there never will be until Vashon does it again I me now we have a doozy from Japanese giant your friend and mine since 1881 it's Seiko with this the prospect's solar chronograph 1969 reinterpretation and it comes with a dial heavily inspired by the 6139 Seiko watch from the 1970s a watch which was famously worn by NASA astronaut Colonel William Pogue during missions aboard NASA's first space station Skylab so essentially the first watch worn in America's first space station I mean it's not as piy as first watch on the moon but still pretty cool so the dial is a vivid yellow with a Sunburst texture while the chronograph hand and chronograph minute hand are in a bright red there's blocky vintage style indices and a Pepsi flavored blue and red aluminium bezel with a tacky meter scale and this reinterpretation Now features three contrasting sub dials in Black inside a 41 mm diameter modern case with tapering lugs and bracelet the 61 396002 automatic chronograph movement of the original has also been replaced by the v192 solar chronograph caliber which charges in both natural and artificial light this is arguably seiko's coolest release of the year and it costs £660 this year Christopher Ward continued its Noble quest to make high-end watchmaking accessible to all blessum with the release of the 12x Open brackets tie Clos brackets a new iteration of its popular integrated sports model in titanium hence the tie and with an open worked dial so both grade 5 and grade 2 titanium are used in the forging of the case and the new micro adjustable bracelet while the fully skeletonized dial reveals the mechanical inner workings of the inhouse movement the caliber h21 there are 198 components that make up the chronometer certified caliber and each one is CNC machine finished to Perfection the contrast and variation of surfaces and finishes along with the multi-layering of the dial gives the watch tremendous depth and contrast with a very striking appearance that makes this a very appealing affordable alternative to watch his like odmar pga's Royal Oak open work this is another Christopher Ward Corker and it costs 4,120 at retail onto the other Japanese Juggernaut this is the Zen Shin super titanium series from citizen here we have three watches in the series in a range of colors there's a three-hander and a chronograph both with solar powered EC Drive movements and then also an automatic model with a small second subdo they come in streamlined sporty cases with integrated bracelets and the cases are made from citizens super titanium TM this is another line of sleek and stylish watches just as cool as citizen already immensely popular suos series citizen are just bringing it right to you lately and I'm chuffing loving it the three-hander costs £400 while the
